India is set to achieve a major transportation milestone as the country’s first bullet train is scheduled to begin operations on August 15, 2027. The announcement was made by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, marking a historic step in India’s high-speed rail journey.
The bullet train will be launched in phases along the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor to ensure safety and smooth operations. The first operational section will open between Surat and Bilimora, followed by the Vapi–Surat stretch and then the Vapi–Ahmedabad segment. Eventually, the entire Mumbai–Ahmedabad route, including the Thane–Ahmedabad section, will become fully operational.
Designed to significantly reduce travel time, the high-speed rail service will boost economic activity, improve connectivity, and introduce world-class rail technology to India. The project represents a major leap toward modern infrastructure and sustainable transportation.
With phased implementation and advanced safety systems, India’s bullet train project is expected to redefine long-distance travel and strengthen the nation’s transport network.
