India’s 45-Day Oil Safety Net Amid Iran-Israel Tension

India currently holds around 100 million barrels of crude oil in a combination of strategic petroleum reserves and commercial inventories.

This stockpile can meet the country’s requirements for approximately 40-45 days if the Strait of Hormuz is shut due to the Iran-Israel conflict.

While this provides a short-term cushion, a prolonged disruption would force India to diversify its sourcing from the US, Russia, and Latin America.
