India Receives First LPG Shipment Amid Middle East Tensions

Amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, India has received its first LPG shipment through a cargo vessel, ensuring continued energy supply. The LPG carrier, named Shivalik, arrived at Mundra Port in Gujarat carrying a large quantity of liquefied petroleum gas.

The vessel transported approximately 46,000 metric tonnes of LPG, which is estimated to be equivalent to around 3.24 million domestic gas cylinders. This shipment plays a crucial role in maintaining India’s energy security during uncertain global conditions.

Reports indicate that the ship departed earlier this month and successfully navigated through sensitive regions, including the Strait of Hormuz, which is a key route for global oil and gas transport.

In addition to this shipment, another vessel carrying LPG is also expected to reach India soon, further strengthening supply. Meanwhile, a separate tanker transporting crude oil is also en route to Indian ports.

This development highlights India’s strategic planning to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply despite geopolitical tensions, safeguarding domestic energy needs and stabilizing LPG availability across the country.
