Food delivery platform Zomato has increased its platform fee to ₹14.90 per order, bringing it nearly in line with its competitor Swiggy, which already charges around ₹14.99 including GST.
This change means that customers will now pay slightly more for each order, even before adding delivery charges, taxes, and other applicable fees. The increase reflects the growing competition and rising operational costs in the online food delivery industry.
Over the past few years, food delivery companies have been adjusting their pricing models to maintain profitability while managing expenses such as logistics, delivery partner payouts, and platform maintenance.
Industry experts suggest that such fee hikes are likely to continue as companies try to balance user growth with sustainable revenue models. While the increase may seem small per order, frequent users could notice a significant impact on their monthly food delivery expenses.
The move also highlights the intense rivalry between major players like Zomato and Swiggy, both of which are constantly innovating and adjusting pricing strategies to stay competitive in the Indian market.
