Karan Adani confirms the Adani Group is working to bring Formula 1 racing back to Greater Noida’s Buddh International Circuit, aiming to revive India’s global motorsport profile.
The landscape of Indian motorsports is on the verge of a high-octane transformation. After a decade-long hiatus that left racing enthusiasts yearning for the scream of V6 hybrid engines, the Adani Group has officially entered the fast lane. In a move that signals India’s growing appetite for global sporting spectacles, the conglomerate is spearheading a plan to bring Formula 1 racing back to the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in Greater Noida.
India’s tryst with Formula 1 began with great fanfare in 2011. The Buddh International Circuit, designed by the renowned Hermann Tilke, was hailed by drivers and teams alike as one of the most challenging and technically sound tracks on the calendar. However, the dream was short-lived. Following three successful seasons from 2011 to 2013, the Indian Grand Prix was discontinued.
