Maruti Suzuki India has announced a massive investment of ₹35,000 crore in Gujarat to set up its second manufacturing plant near Khoraj in Gandhinagar. This landmark investment is expected to significantly strengthen Gujarat’s position as India’s leading automobile manufacturing hub.
The upcoming mega facility will have an annual production capacity of up to 10 lakh vehicles once fully operational. It will be developed in four phases, with each phase capable of producing 2.5 lakh vehicles per year. Production at the new plant is scheduled to begin from FY 2029.
The project is expected to create over 12,000 direct jobs and nearly 7.5 lakh indirect employment opportunities through ancillary industries and MSME units. This large-scale employment generation will boost the local economy and support India’s manufacturing ecosystem.
Industry leaders have highlighted that the investment aligns with the “Make in India, Made for the World” vision. Gujarat’s strong infrastructure, policy-driven governance, and the long-standing India–Japan manufacturing partnership have played a crucial role in attracting this investment. The project marks another major step towards strengthening India’s automotive future.
