Former world boxing champion Mary Kom recently addressed long-standing rumours about her personal life during an appearance on the popular TV show Aap Ki Adalat. Responding to claims surrounding her divorce, Mary Kom clarified her side of the story and rejected several public assumptions.
According to Mary Kom, her marriage went through a prolonged phase of financial stress, trust issues, and personal disagreements. She stated that after marriage, household expenses, children’s education, and daily costs were largely managed through her own earnings, as her husband did not have a stable professional income at the time.
Mary Kom also revealed that she later discovered instances where her earnings were allegedly misused without her knowledge, including large cash withdrawals. She added that these issues contributed to growing differences between them over time.
During the discussion, she further mentioned concerns related to political involvement and the use of funds, which eventually led to an irreversible breakdown of trust. The divorce process, she said, was completed quietly over a period of two years.
Mary Kom clarified that the children chose to stay with her, and she continues to take full responsibility for their education and upbringing. She emphasized that her statements were meant to explain her perspective and not to create controversy.
