The Modi-led central government is set to introduce a historic change in India’s rural employment scheme. The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) will reportedly be renamed as ‘Viksit Bharat–Ji Ram Ji Rozgar Aur Aajeevika Abhiyan (Grameen) 2025’, aiming to align rural employment with the vision of a developed India.
