‘Show the courage to cancel the trade deal with America’; Rahul Gandhi’s challenge to PM Modi.
In a ‘Kisan Maha-Chaupal’ organized in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched a scathing attack on the Central Government. He leveled serious allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the India-US trade deal, the border dispute with China, and corporate relations. Referring to former Army Chief General Naravane’s book concerning Chinese intrusion, he questioned the Prime Minister’s alleged silence on the matter.
Rahul Gandhi further stated that the trade deal between India and America had been stalled for four months because it was related to the agricultural sector. The government did not want to allow large American companies to sell soybeans, cotton, and corn in India, and farmers were also opposed to it. While discussions had been paused for four months, Gandhi claimed that following his speech, the Prime Minister called Trump that very evening without seeking cabinet approval.
