Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president and actor-politician Vijay has announced a major welfare promise for unemployed youth in Tamil Nadu ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Vijay said that his party would provide ₹4,000 every month to unemployed graduates if TVK comes to power in the state.
The announcement is part of TVK’s latest set of election promises aimed at attracting young voters. Along with the monthly unemployment support, Vijay also promised collateral-free education loans and new job opportunities for the youth of Tamil Nadu.
According to Vijay, the ₹4,000 monthly allowance is meant to support educated youth who are struggling to find jobs. The scheme is expected to help thousands of unemployed graduates until they secure employment.
TVK also said it would introduce measures to ensure that local candidates get priority in private sector jobs. The party has additionally promised a law to improve transparency in government recruitment and reduce delays in the hiring process.
The proposal has received mixed reactions in Tamil Nadu. Supporters are calling it a strong welfare measure for young people, while critics have questioned how the scheme will be funded and implemented. More details about eligibility and the launch date are expected in the coming weeks.
