Toyota may discontinue the diesel Innova Crysta by 2027
Toyota is expected to stop selling the diesel-powered Innova Crysta in India by March 2027. The company has not officially confirmed the exact date, but several industry reports say the iconic MPV is nearing the end of its journey.
The Innova Crysta has been one of India’s most popular MPVs
The Innova Crysta was launched in India in 2016 and quickly became a favourite among families, taxi operators and business owners. Its strong diesel engine, comfortable cabin and long-distance reliability made it one of the most trusted vehicles in the country.
Stricter emission rules are the main reason
The biggest reason behind the possible discontinuation is India’s upcoming CAFE 3 emission norms. These new rules are stricter and make it difficult for heavy diesel vehicles like the Innova Crysta to continue in the market.
Toyota is now focusing on hybrid and petrol vehicles
Toyota has already shifted its attention toward the Innova Hycross, which comes with petrol and hybrid engine options. Hybrid vehicles produce lower emissions and help Toyota meet future environmental rules more easily.
