After AAP MP Raghav Chadha raised concerns in Parliament over high food and water prices at Indian airports, the government has announced a major relief for air passengers. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has rolled out a plan to provide ₹10 water bottles and ₹20 samosas at airports across the country.
The initiative, launched under the “Udaan Yatri Café” concept, aims to make air travel more affordable and passenger-friendly. Earlier, travellers often complained about paying ₹150 for tea and ₹200 or more for basic snacks at airport terminals.
The scheme was first introduced at Kolkata Airport and is now being expanded to Chennai and other major airports in India. These budget-friendly counters will offer essential food items at reasonable prices, ensuring dignity and fairness for common passengers.
Officials said the move reflects the government’s commitment to addressing public concerns and improving passenger experience. The decision highlights how parliamentary discussions can lead to real policy changes that directly impact millions of citizens.
Passengers have widely welcomed the move, calling it a long-awaited step toward fair pricing at airports.
