Director Nitesh Tiwari has revealed that his upcoming film Ramayana will portray Raavan in a completely different way from earlier adaptations. According to the filmmaker, Raavan will not be shown only as a villain, but also as a kind, intelligent, and powerful king. Actor Yash will play the role of Raavan in the film.
Tiwari said that Raavan had many qualities apart from his negative side. He described him as a great warrior, a talented musician, a learned scholar, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva, and a benevolent ruler of Lanka. The film will try to show all these sides of the character instead of presenting him as a one-dimensional villain.
The director added that the main message of the film is that even a person with many good qualities can be destroyed by ego, anger, and revenge. According to him, this deeper portrayal of Raavan will make the story more emotional and meaningful for the audience.
Tiwari also promised that the film will show Lanka and Ayodhya in a way that audiences have never seen before. He said the makers are using world-class visual effects and large-scale production to create a fresh cinematic experience.
The upcoming film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Raavan. The first part of the film is expected to release during Diwali 2026, while the second part is planned for 2027.
