Pakistani Drones Spotted in Jammu Ahead of Republic Day, Security on High Alert

Security agencies detected suspected Pakistani drone activity in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Sunday night, just days ahead of India’s Republic Day celebrations. According to officials, the drone was spotted for nearly five minutes before it disappeared from radar, prompting an immediate search operation in the surrounding areas.

Security forces quickly launched combing and surveillance operations to trace the drone’s route, origin, and possible objective. Although no suspicious material has been recovered so far, authorities have not ruled out cross-border involvement and are treating the incident seriously due to the timing and location.

This sighting marks the fifth such drone-related incident reported this month in the Jammu region. Earlier, a suspected drone was also spotted near the International Border in Samba district on January 15, raising fresh concerns over border security and infiltration attempts.

In response to repeated drone sightings, border areas have been placed on high alert, and counter-drone measures have been activated. Additional patrols and technical surveillance systems are being used to prevent any potential threat.

Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi stated that India has clearly conveyed to Pakistan that such drone activities are unacceptable. He added that the issue was raised at the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) level, emphasizing India’s serious concern over repeated violations.

Security forces remain fully alert and prepared to respond to any future threats, especially during the Republic Day period, to ensure the safety and security of the region.
